At the specialised lab in Manchester our highly skilled and experienced Research and Development team make sure each of our products from Holts, Prestone, Simoniz, and Redex perform for you on the road.
Plus, our technical experts are continually testing, benchmarking, and innovating to make our product range the very best on the market.

Phil Carruthers
Research and Development Manager
As our Research and Development Manager, Phil oversees all operations at the lab. Having been with Holts for over 10 years, it’s safe to say that whatever Phil doesn’t know about Holts products, isn’t worth knowing!
Phil is also our chief ‘RedExpert’ – looking after the Redex product range.

Qaswar Naqvi
Research and Development Chemist
Having been with Holts for over 5 years, Qaswar (Qas) is our longest serving Research and Development Chemist.
Qas carries an MSc in Materials Chemistry from MMU and is a highly knowledgeable technical expert – understanding our product range inside out, back to front (quite literally to the molecule!).
Qaswar ‘shines’ as our Valeting and Appearance range expert, looking after products mainly from the Simoniz brand.
Chlöe Foster
Research and Development Chemist
Chlöe joined Holts in 2022 and has been recently promoted to Research and Development Chemist. She is responsible for carrying out product testing, development of product formulations, technical support, and research into new ideas.
Chlöe holds a MChem in Chemistry from the University of Central Lancashire and is responsible for ‘cool’ things such as de-icer and screen wash at Holts.
As such, her primary focus is on the Prestone brand.
Jake Reynolds
Research and Development Chemist
Jake is the latest addition to the technical team here at Holts, joining in December 2022.
As a Research and Development Chemist, Jake oversees the development of new and existing formulations in the Repair & Maintenance category. He also provides technical support for customers on a wide range of different products.
Jake holds a MSc in Chemistry from the University of Sheffield and ‘keeps everything ticking over nicely’ with the Holts branded products such as Tyreweld and GunGum.
