The UK has some of the safest roads in the world, only Sweden can boast fewer road deaths every year. And yet, despite these reassuring statistics, Britain’s motorists still find plenty to worry about when they’re out on the open road — from unexpected breakdowns to gloomy winter nights.
To find out what else people are concerned about behind the wheel, we conducted a survey asking motorists about their driving habits, and what they think are the main stresses and strains of modern driving. The results were interesting, and we’ve included them in a graphic below.
Emergency breakdowns, flat tyres, dark nights and the possibility of a crash; these are some of the biggest concerns UK motorists have whilst driving. We were particularly shocked to find that 64% of drivers suffer anxiety when driving at night, a fact that’s only going to be exasperated by the arrival of the short days of winter.
We were also surprised to find that only 23% of drivers would consider using a tyre filler to fix a flat by the roadside, given that a quarter of motorists worry about flat tyres and the inconvenience they cause. Tyreweld Emergency Puncture Repair re-inflates and seals flat tyres in a matter of minutes, so you don’t have to spend ages trying to fix a flat by the roadside, perfect for those cold, rainy evenings.
But enough of all that, because we want to know what worries you out on the open road, be it dark nights, scary blowouts or other drivers. Let us know on Facebook or Twitter.
